Trail Marathon

April 26 & 27

trailThis race, now in it's 28th year, started before a single knobby bike tire rolled around Potowatami Trail. "Potto", is a big bad loop of hilly kick your butt wilderness single track trail. Due to the fact that most Americans are comatose couch potato wimps, the 12,000 acres of Pinckney Recreation Area remains a wilderness, even though it's only a 55 minute drive from metro Detroit.
I do enjoy a solitary run on Potto but once a year it's fun to lace em' up and scamper through the woods with a thousand of my friends. It's a celebration of dirt, sweat and pain that renews my faith in humanity.  Distances: 5Mile, Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50K.

Book'n Trilogy

May 17

bookntrilogyI must say, it was amazing that we were able to, through some clever modifications, make this course all downhill; even though it was the same course that was all downhill when run the other direction!  OK, sure there were a few uphill parts added to provide additional training and exercise (at no extra cost), but most everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we can all take heart in knowing that we had some fun while supporting our library, and our community!

*There will NOT be an early start for any athlete registered for the Marathon or Half Marathon run. The early start time is for the Walker and Athlete with disabilities categories only.

All Charlevoix Marathon events start and end in beautiful downtown Charlevoix, Michigan. Charlevoix is perched on an isthmus between Lake Michigan and Round Lake and is a northern Michigan community known as “Charlevoix the Beautiful” spreading out onto the shores of Lake Charlevoix. Nothing beats Charlevoix in terms of natural beauty. Plus, Charlevoix has the look and feel of an 18th Century resort community.

The staging area for Charlevoix is the beautiful downtown area of Charlevoix on Michigan Ave. and W. Dixon, one—half block north of the drawbridge. All courses will take you through fantastic residential tree lined neighborhoods. The course is primarily flat, fast shaded most of the way, with a few inclines. The Marathon course has a few inclines and a hill at about the 7 mile marker. You can expect a very scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available on any course. The Marathon and Half Marathon participants will run onto the bike trail.
