Martian Invasion of Races

martianHAIL EARTHLINGS

Why the Martians?  Click here for the illustrated story. Earth marathons have strange themes, with your flying pigs and your convoluted, NASA-calculated encounter projections. Our finest Martian philosophers and theologians are working tirelessly to compose our own (as you call it) "trash talk", which we will shower upon you most mercilessly once our planet's runners prove victorious in winning all the races and snagging all the prizes. We also noticed the course map is now on your website. Using the MSA's (Martian Space Administration) spatial-relationship viewer, we see your course is free of dust and rock, perhaps a solid surface. It could be quite fast … interesting. Time will tell who ends up kicking whose …
The USATF certified course, is traffic free and fast. The  Kids' Martian Marathon will encourage health and fitness to children, check out the Martian Kid's link. Hope to see all of you there! Distances: 5K, 10K, Half-Marathon, Marathon, Kid's Mile. The Martian Marathon is a Boston Qualifier

Trail Marathon

April 25 & 26

trailThis race, now in it's 29th year, started before a single knobby bike tire rolled around Potowatami Trail. "Potto", is a big bad loop of hilly kick your butt wilderness single track trail. Due to the fact that most Americans are comatose couch potato wimps, the 12,000 acres of Pinckney Recreation Area remains a wilderness, even though it's only a 55 minute drive from metro Detroit.
I do enjoy a solitary run on Potto but once a year it's fun to lace em' up and scamper through the woods with a thousand of my friends. It's a celebration of dirt, sweat and pain that renews my faith in humanity.  Distances: 5Mile, Half-Marathon, Marathon, 50K.

Novi, the land of malls and mansions....Can you believe they have 6 miles of gnarly single-track dirt trails? That's where you'll find the cool people ... Not down the street at 12 Oaks Mall!

Directions to Race Start - Exit I-96 at Novi Rd. Take Novi Rd north to Old Novi Rd. Old Novi Rd. is about 1/2 mile north of 12 Mile Road. There is a traffic light there. Turn Left on Old Novi Rd. You will hit S. Lake Dr. Turn left and go about a half mile and the park entrance is on your left.

Book'n Trilogy

May 16

bookntrilogyI must say, it was amazing that we were able to, through some clever modifications, make this course all downhill; even though it was the same course that was all downhill when run the other direction!  OK, sure there were a few uphill parts added to provide additional training and exercise (at no extra cost), but most everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we can all take heart in knowing that we had some fun while supporting our library, and our community!

Tone Up for Tune Ups

May 16th

There are countless families struggling with something that many of us take for granted each day: transportation.  Major car repairs seem to pop up at the wrong time and the associated costs can be a fatal blow to an already struggling family.  This desperate situation can leave people without a way to get to work and provide for those who rely on them.  The funds raised in "Tone Up for Tune Ups" will go to qualified people screened by the Department of Southfield Human Services who need financial support to repair their vehicles.
